Psychology for NDIS Participants

NDIS is the National Disability Insurance Scheme, which funds services for people with disabilities to achieve goals in many aspects of life. It aims to provide greater choice and control over how you live your life, and when you receive supports, and aims to improve your quality of life and access to services.

What can Psychology help with?

Building skills

Psychology uses Capacity Building funds, meaning that the aim of Psychology through NDIS is to support participants with gaining skills or supports they needs to increase their capacity for engaging in day-to-day activities. Examples include, accessing the community, participating in self-care, socialising, or managing their wellbeing or responsibilities.

Advocacy and Plan Review

Your Psychologist can provide written evidence to the NDIS about progress you have made, skills you have built, explaining cognitive or mental health challenges, changes to your support needs or abilities, or additional services or devices that may improve your quality of life or engagement in life activities.

Therapeutic Intervention

Your Psychologist will listen to and support you through challenges that arise, such as understanding the NDIS, adjustment to changes in your life or abilities, and breaking down barriers and promoting self-advocacy to make the world more accessible to you. Discussions may also help your and your support's understanding of your disability and your rights under the NDIS.
